Product Terms

These Product Terms describe the Service, pricing, acceptable use, subprocessors, and support of nios earth Oy ("Nios", "we", "us"). They should be read together with the Nios General Terms & Conditions, the Data Processing Addendum and the possible Expert Service Contract.
If a Customer enters into an Expert Service Agreement, that Expert Service Agreement applies in addition to these Terms. In case of conflict, the Expert Service Agreement prevails.
1. Service Description
Nios is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for analyzing value chain risks and environmental impacts.
Customers can input their own data (e.g., supplier, product, material, or environmental data) and receive analysis and outputs based on Nios' models and licensed datasets (including FootprintLab Pty Ltd / GLORIA).
The Service is advisory in nature; all use and decisions remain the sole responsibility of the Customer.
2. Acceptable Use
Customers must not:
- Share accounts outside their organization.
- Input or transmit unlawful, harmful, or infringing content.
- Use outputs to train competing models.
- Conduct security testing without written consent.
- Copy, reverse engineer, or otherwise interfere with the Service.
Nios may suspend access to address violations or security risks and will notify when practicable.
3. Data Retention & Account Lifecycle
Nios retains Customer Data in accordance with the General Terms & Conditions and the Data Processing Addendum. The following plan-specific rules apply:
- Paid Plans (Team / Enterprise): Customer Data remains fully accessible for the duration of the paid subscription. Customers may export their data at any time.
- Downgrade to Free Tier: When a paid subscription ends, the account moves to the Free Tier. Customer Data remains stored and exportable (e.g., CSV, XLSX, JSON). Certain features may become read-only.
- Inactive Free Tier Accounts: Free Tier accounts with no user activity for 24 months may be deleted, including all associated Customer Data.
- Account Deletion by Customer: If the Customer deletes the account, all Customer Data is erased without undue delay, subject to standard backups and applicable legal obligations.
4. Subprocessors
Nios uses trusted third-party providers to deliver the Service. Current subprocessors include:
- Anthropic: AI models
- Google Cloud: AI models
- Vercel: Application hosting
- Neon: Database
- Cloudflare: Cloud
- PostHog: Analytics
- Clerk: Authentication
- Google Workspace: Customer Management
- Microsoft 365: Customer Management
This list may be updated from time to time.
5. Support
- Free & Team Tiers: basic support via email (hello@nios.earth).
- Enterprise Tier: in addition to the above.
